A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS

This electrified tale from Lightwire Theater (Tortoise and Hare in 2022) follows the journey of a young bird named Max and his family as they embark on their migration south for the winter. When a gust of wind blows Max off course, he finds himself in a wondrous and unfamiliar world at the North Pole. Follow Max's adventures as he encounters dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms, and performing poinsettias, all while trying to find his way back to his family. A soundtrack of timeless holiday hits from Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey, and Tchaikovsky, accompanies this magical and captivating tale of family, friendship, and hope.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Performance

This performance is approximately 60 minutes long.

Performers

There are eight performers that will operate electroluminescent puppets used to tell the story. These puppets contain electric wire that glows in the dark, so the audience will see the puppets while the performers stay hidden. The performers do not speak, but will introduce themselves after the performance.

Sound

There is very little spoken word used in the performance. Music underscoring is used throughout the show. Sometimes the music is loud and energetic, other times it is soft and quiet.

Projection

Projections are occasionally used to enhance the scenery and tell the story.

Lighting

This show includes strobes, flashing lights, and is performed in a darkened theatre so that the audience can see the glowing puppets. Some lighting effects may be disruptive to people with photosensitivity.

Content

This production contains mild allusions to violence, including a scene in which candy canes are used to mimic guns.

What to Bring
